History
The company was founded in 1958 by George Ghiz. Besides building pools, the company is also known for its retailing and merchandising. In 1964, George Ghiz opened Gardentown Pool Pavilion at Paddock’s headquarters. A revolutionary idea, the 10-acre display park included eight pools and five spas. The company still maintains Gardentown, along with other display centers among its offices.
Paddock Pools remained in the Ghiz family until 2005, when it was acquired by New York-based private equity firm Lincolnshire Management.
In February 2013 its was announced that Paddock Pools was purchased from Lincolnshire Financial by the Arizona twosome of Tom McKee and Craig Maggi. Maggi had been a former General Manager for the company and had left to pursue opening his own company. While retaining the employees left at the time of the acquisition the company has hired back four employees who had been let go as a result of retail store closing by the previous ownership group.
The company says it has built more than 70,000 pools.
