History
Cactus Valley Pool Supply was formed in August 1997 when David and Aaron Hagen started a pool cleaning service. They had gone on a few "ride alongs" with a friend who cleaned pools, and it seemed to be a business they could start and develop.
"But it took a lot of hard work, and it took us a long time to build up a clientele," Aaron discovered. They attracted new customers by "banging the pavement," placing flyers on doors in neighborhoods they were targeting. In fact, they launched the business with just $1,000, and couldn't even afford a mail campaign; sometimes the flyers were distributed by riding roller blades through neighborhoods, which they often patrolled until 2 or 3 a.m.
